State Street Rezoning – Orem, UT

Overview

The State Street Rezoning effort was a City lead process to create a series of overlay districts around new BRT stops along the State Street corridor. The district overlays strove to enhance community identity, supply varied housing and commercial opportunities, and support enhanced transit.

Challenge

How to demonstrate that density, along with design guidelines, can create places that enhance the largely suburban community and that some amount of density can better the Orem community.

Outcome

The community engagement process lead to unprecedented levels of support a swift council adoption.
